So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”John 20:2
On the evening of the resurrection Jesus appeared to His disciples. He found them behind locked doors for fear of what may happen to them. It says that Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” He took care of the fear very quickly.
How overjoyed they were when they saw Him. Rightly so, for now their fear was gone and He was back with them. He repeated His statement of peace to them and then gave a command to them that would take them out of the locked doors of fear and get on with the purpose they had been called to.
“As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you.” He had completed His ministry on earth and would soon return to the Father. They were being handed the task of taking His name to a world still locked behind secret doors and fearful.
Some today seem to still be locked behind various kinds of doors and afraid to go out into a world that needs to hear Jesus’ deliverance. This is our first Sunday after our celebration. Let’s do as He commanded. Go as the Father had sent Him into the world.
