With kids spending the entire day at home during summer, National Youth Camp 2016 “Huenity” Camp in Camp Benjamin at Alfonso, Cavite, broke that monotony by offering a multitude of faith-based activities for youth from ages 12-21. The absence of TV, limited access to cellphones, internet, video games, and many other distractions, served to engage the mind and allowed young people into focusing on the deeper questions of life. When these mind-occupying distractions were taken away, campers had the time to reflect the Word in a much deeper way than a once-a-week youth fellowship experience allows. With these distractions removed, campers found themselves surrounded by God’s creation, an environment that turned their minds to Him and away from the cares of the world.
This year’s camp ran for three days from May 19-21 and allowed campers to be united with other young people from the different Word for the World Outreaches nationwide and broadened their circle of fellowship. For many campers, they meet new friends at camp once a year, and continue to see year by year, becoming lifelong friends that they care for, pray for, and encourage in Christ for decades.
The camp provided a place for godly young people to grow in serving Christ, but also in learning how to study the Word of God, share the gospel, and pray with others about their needs. They learned what a true servant is based from Colossians 2:1-5.
1. The servant of GOD should be FIRM in the faith.
2. The servant of GOD should FERVENTLY encourage and be united in love.
3. The servant of GOD should FULLY understand the mystery of Christ.
The mysteries are these:
1. There is an encouraging message that in JESUS we don't lack anything
2. There is an enlightening message that you will be not deceived by anyone
3. There is an empowering message that your life may be organized and that your faith may be firm in Christ.
And God did not only work in the hearts of the campers, but He was also busy in the lives of the camp staff, volunteers, and pastors as well. God has greatly used the youth camp in calling out 200 plus young people to be saved and to serve Him as Lord, whether as future missionaries, pastors, or, just as importantly, as “full-time Christians.
How else can you better spend your summer?
